Ice cream is easily perishable. Until it is eaten it must be stored at a temperature of at least minus 18 degrees centigrade to ensure no loss of quality or premature deterioration. You should follow these tips and tricks when buying and storing ice cream:
  • When buying ice cream please ensure that no ice crystals have formed on the surface of the packaging. Ice crystals indicate that the product has been stored somewhere too warm.
  • When shopping, place ice cream in the shopping trolley last of all.
  • Use a cool-bag or cool-box to transport ice cream.
  • Home-made ice cream should be placed in the icebox immediately and eaten within three days at the most.
  • Use a freezer-compatible plastic container that seals well to store home-made ice cream.
  • Never freeze ice cream after it has melted or defrosted.
