Did you know that there are over 100 varieties of bean? And who associates bean stew with sex? The fact is, however, that pulses such as beans, peas, lentils, soy beans and chick peas stimulate the libido, boost hormone production and provide us with energy.

Beans originated in the tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America, where they have always been an important part of the staple diet, and are commonly the most important source of protein. Today beans are cultivated everywhere, ranking among the most important culture crops worldwide. The main growing areas are Europe and East Asia. Beans cope very well with the climate in Europe, growing virtually everywhere.

Despite the diversity of varieties and their high nutritional value, pulses still have the image of being a “poor man’s food”. Only slowly is the bean finding its way into gourmet cuisine – yet this trend is on the rise.
