Tips for the household

In order to ensure that foods stay fresh and retain their nutrients, they need to be stored properly. Lettuce should always be kept in the refrigerator in the vegetable cooler. Depending on the variety it may then be kept for a couple of days. The lettuce should be washed before it is eaten. In this respect the leaves should be placed entirely in water – but not for too long, as otherwise valuable nutrients may be lost. So that the lettuce dos not taste watery it should be drained in a colander or using a salad spinner. Before serving it may be torn into mouth-sized pieces.
