Icy crackling cold, sun, blue sky and lots of powder snow – ideal for those on skiing holiday but also for those who just wish to enjoy clear cold air and the fantastic winter views during their winter break; for this can be pure enjoyment and recuperation at the same time.
However, you have to be reasonably fit to fully enjoy the delights of skiing or snowboarding; if not, there is a real danger of sore muscles or even sprains and strains.
Hence, you should prepare your body in advance for this type of sport. There are lots of courses available in sports clubs, universities and fitness centres, often with professional help on hand.
Before you start your session on the slopes, you should warm up adequately doing the exercises you have learnt – particularly those for arms, legs and torso. This will loosen up your joints and make them much more flexible. They will also help lessen the damage caused by falls and accidents.
The sheer physical stress of skiing can have a negative effect on bones and joints; at times, the pain can be such that even après-ski is no pleasure.
However, help is at hand: just 10 grams of gelatine taken per day for several weeks prior to your holiday can provide sustainable protection for joints and reduce the joint pain. The amino acids glycine and proline contained in the gelatine have an important function here as they are present in much higher concentrations than in any other protein. Thanks to this, gelatine protects joint cartilage from wear and degeneration. It has no allergenic components and contains neither carbohydrates nor fats, and is practically free of cholesterol. Gelatine is thus an all-round healthy foodstuff; this wellness product is available in pharmacies and drugstores.
The GME website editor-team wishes you a relaxing and enjoyable skiing holiday - of course with gelatine!
