Gelatine to combat brittle nails
  • In the meantime every second European woman complains that her nails are too soft or too brittle. But a remedy is at hand – gelatine. Taking gelatine daily strengthens the nails. Why? This natural food has nearly the same constituent parts as the collagen in our skin, and thus supplies the skin and connective tissue with the relevant nutrients in an optimum manner. It also provides the nails with the best possible supply of moisture. Dry fingernails that break easily are taboo from now on!

Clear nail polish helps to prevent nail-biting

  • Do you tend to bite your nails when there is something particularly thrilling on television or when you have to deal with a difficult situation? Make things easy for yourself by regularly applying clear nail polish. This automatically prevents nail-biting. If necessary apply false nails, your own nails can then grow underneath.

Polishing helps combat discoloured nails

  • Discoloured or yellow nails are essentially harmless, but they do look rather unsightly. The change in pigmentation occurs due to frequent applications of nail polish and heavy smoking. Polish the nails (preferably with a 3-phase nail polisher) until the top layer has been removed and then polish once more. Apply a nourishing nail cream which will seal the treated nail surface and finally apply a layer of clear nail polish.

Tricks:

  • If possible, try to avoid cutting your nails with nail scissors, as this tends to lead to them being even more brittle.
  • Avoid using nail polish remover containing acetone as this dries out the nails even more.
  • Instead of filing your nails back and forth, try to use longer movements with which you always file the nail in only one direction.
