European Gelatine Association Launches New Website

Brussels, 31 October 2002. Did you know that gelatine is good for the bones and joints and that, if taken regularly, it can help to prevent arthritis and osteoporosis? Do you know tasty recipes using gelatine, and did you know that gelatine is free of sugar, fat and cholesterol? As of today, all of this information will be easier to find, more comprehensive and presented in a modern design at www.gelatine.org.

The relaunch of the gelatine website of the European Gelatine Association (GME) is going online. The aim is to provide consumers, journalists, customers of the gelatine manufacturing industry and anyone else interested in gelatine with easier and more convenient access to important information on all aspects of gelatine. “The clear structure arranged according to subjects and the modern, trendy design of the new website address consumers and journalists equally effectively,” says Patrick Goossens, President of the GME. “We want to inform and educate wherever we can. The new website offers us an excellent platform for doing this.”

The Association is going one step further with the relaunch of the website: the new web site should also illustrate the far-reaching potential of gelatine. Indeed, in addition to its traditional applications in the food, pharmaceutical and photographic industries, gelatine is becoming increasingly important for the development of new innovative products in several branches of the industry.

The Focus is on the Consumer
The consumer remains the focus of the work of the GME Association. The comprehensive gelatine portal therefore provides diverse information on health and nutrition with gelatine. Delicious gelatine recipes for great dishes to make at home can be found there, along with expert tips for handling gelatine correctly when cooking and baking.

The GME also provides complete information on the safety and quality of gelatine. A quarterly newsletter will report on current gelatine trends, while a comprehensive range of services will be made available to journalists.

A special highlight: the website - which is currently accessible in English only - will soon also be available in German, French, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. In this way, the GME is already implementing an important objective of its broad-based information campaign: making information on gelatine available to a wide, international public.
